Berbay Awards Scholarship to California University of Pennsylvania Student

Berbay Marketing & Public Relations has awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Alyssa Helterbran, a third-year communications student at California University of Pennsylvania.

Scholarship applicants were asked to address the question, “What is an example of a company with a strong public relations presence, and what are the main qualities that go into the company’s PR success?” Alyssa was selected for her essay submission discussing Coca-Cola’s ability to produce successful PR campaigns that reflect the interests of their public and changing times. She took a look back at Coca-Cola’s campaign history from free samples to celebrity endorsements to branching out to other industries, and examined how they have grown as a company to become a household name.

As a communications student, Alyssa is studying public relations, marketing, anthropology, writing and speech communication. She aims to complete her Bachelor’s degree in communications and continue on to graduate school to become an Audiologist or Speech Pathologist, and use her knowledge of communications to benefit peoples’ lives.

Berbay launched its annual scholarship program in 2015 to support marketing, public relations and communications students working toward a professional career in the field.
