Berbay Marketing & Public Relations has awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Ashley Tate, a second-year journalism student at Howard University.
Each year, applicants are asked to submit an essay answering the question, “What is an example of a company or organization with a strong public relations presence, and what are the main qualities that go into the company’s PR success?” Ashley was selected for her essay submission discussing how Ben & Jerry’s addresses social justice issues while staying true to their goal of distributing the best ice cream possible. She examines how Ben & Jerry’s brand delivery and unique flavors catch the attention of customers.
Ashley’s passion to tell stories led her to pursue a major in journalism. She aspires to be a producer for a major news outlet and a contributing writer in magazines and newspapers.
Berbay launched its annual scholarship program in 2015 to support marketing, public relations and communications students working toward a professional career in the field.
