By-Line v. Quote

Michelle: What is the difference between quotes in the media and by-lined articles?  Quotes in the media involve being cited and quoted as an expert source in a piece written by professional journalists.  By-lined articles appear with your name as the author rather than a reporter.  Not all publications accept by-lined articles, but almost all media quote people.  Both give you the first [unintelligible] credibility you need to be positioned as an expert.
