A Ben-Gurion Society Evening at STREET with Susan Feniger

I am co-chair of the Jewish Federation’s Ben-Gurion Society (BGS). Nationally, the BGS is a donor recognition level for adults ages 25-45 who contribute at least $1,000 annually to the Jewish Federation’s campaign. Throughout the year, BGS hosts exclusive networking, social, educational, and cultural events and programs across the city.

For those of you who don’t know David Ben-Gurion (no, not just an airport in Israel), he was the first Prime Minister of the State of Israel.  BGS embodies Ben-Gurion’s legacy, that young men and women use their vision and combine their power, passion and resources to build a strong and responsible Jewish community at home, in Israel and around the world through leadership development, networking opportunities and special events like our program this evening.

As our first BGS event of 2013, we spent an evening meeting Susan Feniger, an award-winning chef, restaurateur, cookbook author and philanthropist, at her restaurant STREET.  The event began with networking, appetizers and cocktails and segued to a Q&A with Susan discussing how she fell in love with food, her mentors, what inspires her, as well as how she devotes her time when she isn’t cooking at one of her four restaurants, or publishing her sixth cookbook.

Thank you to the BGS members who helped us kick-off the year with a great event. It is always wonderful to get our group together, spend time getting to know new BGS community members, learn a little about our Federation’s work to alleviate hunger that you are supporting, and to meet extraordinary chefs and philanthropists like Susan.
